Gorges, Lerks, and Fades.
This strategy is more for Lerks and Gorges than fades.
But let me put it this way:
Gorges:
As a Marine Commander, A Gorge is probably an alien commander
since he does build stuff. He may be a shrimp. But once you gain your teams
trust. There is no stopping this guinea pig. First off. Stick with your team. Tell
them to locate you, and follow you to a resource. Even if they are Skulks. You
need to locate Resources and start building offense chambers as fast as possible.
When you think you have given enough offense chambers. Always build two.
Defense Chambers. When you want to take a nearby Resource Chamber.
You let your team mates struggle in battle. If your team goes Fades. You
need to heal them in battle. This may not work. What will work is your imagination.
You gotta familurise yourself with the environment, and figure out whats the
best place to set up all of your chambers. BE SMART and CREATIVE. If your
a good commander as a marine, and are good at building stuff. Its a must
that when you play our a gorge. You gotta give out strategies.
Fades:
Fades play Offense. When I mean Offense. I dont mean head towards the
enemy as the marines would once they got heavy armor. Dont think your
unstoppable. Because you are. The first thing you need to do. Is raid enemy
resource centers, so the gorges can take over. I mostly see people saying
"Yes we got two hives im playing a FADE!" Thats not the point. And thats why
your team will always lose. Fades and Onos are attackers. But at the same time
defenders. You cant just go straight to the enemy HQ cause your all tuff.
Lerks:
Im mention this right here, Right now. I see morons trying to chew their
way through sentry guns just to break the enemies defense. There is always
an area in the map the sentry's cant locate you at. Lerks are used(the way I used um).
To fly over enemy resource centers. And find a place to hid. When you do hide
make sure the terrain is flat or atleast a bit. once behind all of the sentry's,
Evolve into a better more powerful life form, this should of course. Only be
suggested if you have two hives or more. Well, I dont complain, im good with
a skulk either way. The point is the marines always block the passage ahead
When they do pull this off you gotta find a safe spot behind the resource
center (or on the side, wherever) and transform to fade/skulk/onos and take
out the sentry gun's from behind or their resource tower. if an enemy resource
tower is un attended like that, you can always turn back to a gorge. and
build behind the enemy sentry's. THEN destroy the sentry's the next time
around.

Or at least you dont play with competent Lerks.
As a Lerk, I EAT EVERYTHING!!! Ive cleared up hives dozens of times and small Marine Minibases too many times to count. The trick is to use umbra, Eat 1 Turret, go heal, hopefully it will have opened up a path to the Turret factory, if not, umbra another turret and eat again. Unless you have a Comm on the ball sending troops, your home free, I managed to singlehandedly Liberate our last hive on MANY an occasion, and have done so with Fades and skulks as an assault team. Changing forms wastes good resources, going to lerk 33 + adren 2 + regen 2 = 37, THEN changing into say a fade +44 = 81 res, enough for a hive that you cheated a Gorge out of. Dont play wastefull. it makes tubby cry. All you need to do is get used to how long umbra lasts and either back out when u take damage or reumbra, and continue to eat turrets.
Its insanely easy so long as marines dont pop up even then keep the umbra up and they wont hit you they go in for knife, you up and fly away. And with Adrenaline you can constntly bite when on the ground, and teh turrets go down super fast, if not, and theres a wall (mm turret farming Comms, can you get any more noobish) either umbra and spike till ones weak, or get to the side of them (Turrets cant fire through buildings, including other turrets) And chew your way through them. Ive halted many a marine expasion and even relocation by eating my way through outposts. Tip is to know what poses the biggest threat and how to kill it with ease (I usually go Turret to gain acess to Turret factory, Factory then Phase Gate, then res tower then finish up teh rest of hte turrets, nice big juicy waste of res on the commanders side)
And if your lucky enough to team up with a fade who doorsnipes, I usually leave him behind, run up, umbra and eat a turret, if hes smart, hell run up and join me, if not I leave him at the door while i destroy the base.
First, I had a very hard time understanding your post at first; try to use commas and other punctuation (I am not being a lame hard-**obscenity** here, I seriously had an issue getting through it... I thought about just ignoring your post altogether [not good]).
You brought up a few decent points about fades and mid-game ideas, but I wouldn't really call this a "strategy" per se. You seem to have a vague idea of what you want to say, but your presentation of this idea was kind of all over the place. You should rethink what you're trying to say, and then say it in a way more people can understand. Aliens need all the help they can get
You seem to have some point about lerks in there. Which I don't think are that good.
One, going lerk early hurts the team more than it helps, with the average lerk. A skulk with 33 resources isn't taking any from the team pool, so all RPs get split to the gorges. You go lerk, and that's another 33 resources you will eat up (plus another 33 each time you die, respawn and go lerk).
Two, a lerk spiking a turret farm takes forever. With two hive, adren & regen, you can simply fly in, umbra, munch away, repeat. Much faster than sitting back and spiking. Regen will take care of the few shots that get through the umbra, even with mutliple turrets firing on you. Which you can avoid for the most part, just be smart in picking the angle to attack the TF from.
Three, rather than flying around solo, go find those fades. Hang with the fades, move with them, keep em umbra'd. This combo (works even better with a gorge helping you and the fades) will steamroller most marine defenses. One lerk, two gorges, three fades, starting from aux gen, ran right over the marine defenses at gen hive, stability monitoring, and the main base, without slowing down. They had HA, HMGs, turrets and GLs. Didn't matter. The gorges healed everything that moved and webbed anything with a TSA stamp on it, the lerk kept up the constant gold cloud of doom, and the fades kept pushing forward, constantly acid rocketing. We lost one gorge, once, he didn't get out of the grenade spam fast enough.
Moving past the marine defenses, gestating, that's good for an omelet. Omelet? That's what you become when the marines find you in an egg. Eaassy kill.
Final pet peeve. Learn the difference between strategies and tactics. Most Real Time Strategy games aren't, they are Real Time Tactics games. Everything in this thread is at most a tactic.
And you don't need flying. A skulk can easily jump and use leap to get past a lot of turrets? You use leap don't you? just test it out in a long hall the next time and see how far you go.
As a lerk, why fly in and then evolve? that's 33 res + upgrades +44 for fade = <77 res. That's enough for another hive, not to mention how longit would take for you to get all those resources. Skulks can take out turrets easily if you dodge the turret fire. Don't just sit in front of the turret chewing it.
What's this about gorges needing escort and telling your team to rally to you? As a gorge your job is to stay behind the front lines in the first few minutes and build stuff. There is no need for ppl to follow you around as you "locate resources." Marines can't take nodes that quickly, and so can't you. Usually nodes aren;t even taken fully by the time alines get 2nd hive up. And don't build offense chambers too early! save for the hive after you cap a couple of nodes. Unless someone else is saving for the hive, you should always build paringly.
