It's probably going to take me a while to do this, but I'm making a whole bunch of modifications to the game to make the more scary such as dense and dark fog, jumpscares, ai improvements, and louder sounds. So far,

I feel like the flashlight intensity needs to be turned down >:)

I don't even use the flashlight anymore.
There's usually enough background ambient light to work with.
That and the Seamoth lights get me by.

Not anymore, unless you want to sit in pitch black while you get eaten

Honestly, the game should be a lot darker in the Lost River and Inactive Lava Zone. It's simply not foreboding due to the ambient lighting.

Between the Seaglide lamp and the glow from a readied Laser Cutter, I don't really use the Flashlight very long either.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

    THAT LOOKS AWESOME!

I'd try your mod immediately if it could make my game this dark and heartattack-scary!

I removed all ambient in every biome. Reason I didn't show LR here was because the lost river's dang green water makes everything in there super bright so I'll have to modify the waters' material.

It's not even a mod yet, more like modifications to memory haha. I am planning to implement the same stuff I used to modify code from the bacon units.

This particular mod idea doesn't sound like my cup of tea (don't particularly like dark/scary things in games and my monitor is dark enough that I can't see what I'm doing in the dark areas half the time already), but I appreciate all the effort going into this and look forward to seeing how it turns out.

    Keep up the good work!

I hope someone makes a "horror" mod that looks like this video. This game has potential to be terrifying with more spoopy biomes and enimes ;)

@ShuttleBug But it is a mod, just not in a loadable mod format.
It's not shaders or anything like this, it's legit, just not loadable.

While I applaud your efforts, I think the combination of music and current lighting can be spooky enough for me. Especially if there are Reapers around. I haven't had this many jump scares since Aliens vs. Predator.
