Distant bioluminescent flashing patterns

There are loads of things in the game that are bioluminescent, but there is one type which I think should be in the game: flashes made by tiny creatures like copepods or ostracods which are too small for the eye to see, but only their flashes are visible. A bit like this:
Now loads of individual flashes could be cool, but then I thought about making them into patterns. I already have a few in mind, the first being the bioluminescent pattern of the atolla jellyfish:
And the other pattern idea is inspired by the ostracod Photeros annecohenae. Their mating display is basically the male emitting a flash of bioluminescent liquid that stays glowing for about a second, and as the ostracod moves, more flashes are made. So that creates lines of flashes that seem to be slowly moving through the water. The ABZÛ devs added this in the "underwater water temple":
Those alignments of dots are the copepods doing their mating displays. To see how they move, refer to 1:04 of this video.
My idea is a bit weird to explain because I don't want the creatures making these lights to be visible, just their flashes in the distance.
Also, I think this would work perfectly in the grand reef at night, it definitely seem dark enough there for there to be those micro-firework displays in the water:
But I'm out of ideas for patterns, so what do you think?

Have you seen a dinoflagellate bloom on a shoreline at night? I'd love to see this on the islands:
