Mafia; A Gaming Experience All Its Own

'Dis ain't no GTA 3 clone, kapeesch?
Let me start by saying this; Mafia is the best game I've EVER played. Things running for it: number one; graphics. The graphics in this game are nothing if not heart-stopping; the models, the textures, the particles, all extremely impressive and amazing. Scarce a time have I actually stopped playing during the course of the game to stop, marvel, salivate, and drop a load in my pants in sheer awe. The faces are superbly done, and in some cases (where in I was half-asleep and hungover, but still compitent) fooled me into thinking I was look at a real person. The cars aren't sold short either, each one covincingly recreated with unbelievable authenticity. You get your money's worth and then some when it comes to this game's graphical horsepower. Number two; sound. This I will not lie about to you; the sound of the phone ringing in the game fooled me into getting up to answer my phone, which was obviously not ringing. The sounds in game are fantastic. From the almost unnoticable clip-clop of your shoes on the pavement, as well as other all other surfaces (real leather, not that cheap "don't be cruel to the animals!" tree-hugging hippie imitation leather!), to the impressive sound your M1911 (known to non-military personnel as the "Colt .45") makes when firing off a bullet into a fellow, but not friendly mobsters head. Every single sound sounds (and probably is) 100% authentically real. Number three; gameplay and storytelling. Not since Half-Life has a game pulled me into its clasp and refused to let go. The story is coveyed via in-game and pre and/or post game cut-scenes that really convey the mood of the game authentically. You'll find yourself deeply engrossed into the games feel, almost certainly convinced you're playing a movie and not just a game. Overall, I score this a 98 out of 100, I deducted two points because there isn't an in-game save option except during and after missions, which can be frustraiting during difficult moments in the game. Miniscule qualm aside I recommend this for anyone who owns a PC with the specs to run it (its minimum requirements are 500 MHz processor or the equivalent, 96 MB of RAM, 1.8 Gigs of free hard-drive space, and a 32 MB graphics card. My PC is an Athlon AMD 2800, 1024 MB of RAM, 200 Gig hard-drive, and a Radeon 9700 pro Overclocked. I run it at the highest settings with an average of 120 frames per second), so go get it, now! That's an order, maggot! And remember one thing, it isn't crime, it's bussiness.

I really loved ScarFace and Goodfellas, hopefully this will be good too :)
Don't get me wrong; Mafias graphics are Doom 3 compared to Half-Life when you match it up against GTA3. Two different styles, sure, but Mafia is just wonderful. Still, even the wonderfully perfect and spectacular graphics just don't make up for the fact that I don't like the way my little guy moves.
Realistically?

Not the animations, the control.

The controls can be remapped and the controls themselves are similar to any TPS or FPS; mouse to look and keyboard to walk/drive around.
1.: Rotten - and I mean rotten savesystem. I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy being forced to run through some episodes thrice just because the autosave points are too far from each other and there is no quicksave function.
2.: Difficulty. I don't mind a challenge, but go through that damn race and tell me you didn't gnaw through the table in the process.
Aside from that, I really enjoyed Mafia. A little linear, but a hell of a game.

Would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to why? (Not sarcasm; I haven't played Vice City yet.)
Also; Gamespy is holding its Readers Choice Awards right now and I encourage all of you to go vote for Mafia! If you don't I'll whip out a whole crate of Genuine 100% U.S. Army Ranger Whoop-@$$! on you!
