<div class="IPBDescription">wth is that thing?!</div> Olla, noob to da boardz here. I was digging into the 'ns.fgd' file seeing what was in there and stumbled onto this:

@PointClass base(Targetname) = trigger_script
[
scriptname(string) : "Script name" : ""
spawnflags(Flags) =
[
1 : "Start on" : 0
]
]

So, is this what I hope it is? Some sort of map scriptting? *crosses fingers* I'm also assumming it was something that is incomplete or removed(ie: env_fog..*sigh* ). Anyways, if anyone has any idea what this thing does let me know please!

    Come on, you know you want to tell everybody your secret! Eh? .... Ah well, hrmm..
    I'm pretty sure I know what it will do, and if so....WOW, talk about a whole new world of options! Heh, I'm probably wrong though <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    What, do you mean Spawnflags? If so, sorry bro your wrong. Spawnflags are used to set values for entities in a map when they spawn. EG: func_wall (SPF: not in deathmatch).

    yeah that looks like a Normal HL ent <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Thats what I thought at first. Then I compared standard HL fgd to the NS fgd (that came with client) and it is not a normal HL ent. ....its...something...else...*que dramatic music*...

    i think that (may be wrong here) it was an entity that was put in for scripted sequences (drop ships, maybe training mission, etc) but isn't supported at the moment.

    There wasn't time to finish the coding for this entity before version one shipped. It should be finished up and included in completed form for a future client update. Which client update or when is still unknown.

    *sigh* So, you going to leave it at that huh? Dern, I'm realy itching to know wth this ent does. Well, thanks for the feedback. Oh! Are there any more niffty suprises in the client update(ie: more new entities/features/etc)? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It adds dancing sausages to the maps.

    (Yes, all of the mods are being obscure. fun isnt it? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    I'm not a mod, <b>nor</b> do I know what this is, but I have a few ideas, so I am going to be obscure anyway <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Somehow I must have missed this new thread. I just found it because I looked through the new entities, found trigger_script and thought that the forum would be the best place to find answers. But obviously I'm left alone with my assumptions like everyone else <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
    I don't know why noone says what s/he things, but I will do so now.
    First I thought it would execute Quake-C scripts like the ones in the events folder, but I don't know... how would it be fired when 'start on' is not set? So it is either a useless entity atm or it does something completely different.
    Well, I go and learn Quake-C now and all the Natural-Selection commands for spawning dust clouds or hide structures or teleport players. Wow, that would even include spawning new structures and weapons.
    But that sounds like a nice dream and nothing that is going to be reality soon, right?

    Thing is I've found references in other places to server side and client side scripting in NS... I think it was in the NS cheats list Flayra posted somewhere...

    I also remember that before NS came out I think part of the mapping guidelines mentioned that the marines should be treated to a cutscene of them entering the map, giving the alien players just enough time to reach the marine start (but not enough for them to actually get inside it). This would mean that you could end up seeing skulk rushes 2 seconds into the game on some maps...
