With a quake 2 feel
Well ive decided that with my map im going to go for a Quake 2 feel, ive got the acutecture style in mind only problem be that the NS texutres dont have enough that really feek quakey to me.

If someone out there has some, or is willing to make some ide REALLY appreciate it. They need to darker feel and while not being to ugly like quake (cause its old school) have the look.

Well if you know what i mean, and you got what i need. Give me a holler.

Thanks ahead.

umm you see NS is a game of atmosphere, this atmosphere is protrayed the same way through all of the levels, a quake styled map should be made in quake, not in NS.

Nailed it on the head BiTMAP. Plus, textures make up about 60% of the atmosphere, lighting, sound, etc is the other 40% imo

I disagree. I think Quake 2 styled textures and architecture could fit perfectly in NS. Feel and style are the key words here - and there is no reason that with NS-quality textures designed in a similar way to Quake 2's and an architectural feel inspired by the same game can't fit. Last I checked, Quake 2 was about a gloomy tech atmosphere, at least the best that could be done with a limited palette and far too many colored lights. If you claim that no NS maps have even any hints of Quake 2 styled architecture, I think you'll find yourself gravely mistaken.

And if that 40% is done through lighting and sounds, that's nearly half the map in the NS atmosphere even if the textures don't -exactly- match -- which in this case, I think they could be made to.

Go from the NS metallic base, and I guarantee this idea will work if done carefully.

Bitmap, if that's your attitude, please go tell Ken to make ns_nothing for Doom3, as that's where numerous ideas of his came from -- including some very well done areas HEAVILY influenced on Doom3 screens. There's no reason other games, especially with a similar concept of base atmosphere (the gloomy tech bit), can't offer style or texturing inspiration, provided it stays at inspiration.

KFS, I wholly concur. Nothing wrong with 'inspiration'.

Anyways, since I'm feeling like the 'Non-NS Texture Baron' around here, I'll create some textures for ya, Scapegoat. Just show me some examples or tell me what you're thinking of or something... I've never played Quake 2.
