Half-life Doesn't Register Ns As "installed"...

I can join games manually through the IP address, and play that way, but its really annoying, often times servers fill up so fast I can't get in because of the time it takes to write the ip down on paper (b/c stupid half life doesn't allow you to copy the IP addy from the server browser) and then type it in.

Then when I go to the custom games option were you can switch the mod you are using, if I click NS, it says its not installed, even though I can play it if i type it manually.

I have Half-Life game of the year edition w/ TFC from like 3 years ago, I run windows XP home, my shortcut works fine, I just can't join games from the server browser by double clicking em, I got a fast computer and no hardware problems other than the game isn't registering as installed with half-life.

Actually, it probably is the shortcut that's causing you problems. I had the exact same symptoms until I modified the shortcut, setting the "Start in" directory to "C:\Sierra\Half-Life" (modify appropriately).

This isn't really a fix, but I would just say use an external browser like All-Seeing Eye and forget the problem exists.
