Why can we carry so much gold and lead?

I Feel bad for my character when he has a inventory full of metal but gold and lead is the worst because they weigh so much more than other metals and we carry MASSIVE chunks who else knows what im saying?

I get you. I just resolve it by figuring we've dumped our swim weights and have the BCD cranked up to max.

Then I look at the four or five long tons of gold I have and realize that my locker in Subnautica is worth more than my actual 401(k). Then I cry.
