[BUG] Hardcore Survival Major Save Issue

Ran into this problem twice last night and has really frustrated me.
Upon Quit and Save which is the only option we have in Hardcore Survival the game runs into a problem after getting back to the main menu. About Unable to Load Save and Try Again does not work.
Upon returning to the play screen the session is not saved.
I don't mind playing games on Regular Difficulty but I thoroughly enjoy playing games with an element of heavy loss should you die and have to start all over again.
