Researching Human History

Am I the only one who would love to read up on some of the groundbreaking human achievements that happened in the Subnautica universe? I'd love to learn more about some of the events just touched upon in the game, and maybe learn about some new ones, as well. They don't have to be completely serious; references to pop-culture would be fun, for example a planet completely overrun by apes or something along those lines.

How would you learn about these things?

I thought of three ways that you could learn about human history. Some of them are more fluid and fit into the story than the others, but I thought I'd throw them all out there just in case.

1: Scattered PDA-Style History Logs could be a way of reading about human history. They would need to look slightly different than the average PDA entry to distinguish the two, and they would need to be in more obvious places sometimes. This is the least lore-friendly of the three I thought of, so I thought I'd get it out of the way quickly and not bore you with the details.

2: The Aurora is a great place to gather materials, but aside from the PRAWN suit and some additional story there really isn't much else to search there for. I propose Human History Logs can be discovered in various rooms in the Aurora; maybe they could add a library to the Aurora where these Logs could be found. The only problem I have with this idea is that it would make History Logs a little bit inaccessible, as the only place to find them would be inside the Aurora, let alone in one room inside the Aurora.

3: You could build a library? I know this is something a lot of people have talked about including, and it would be a great addition if with it came these History Logs. You could build a library, and over the course of the game more and more History Logs are added to the database there. I would also love for this to be a place where you can skim over PDA entries on a more organised and larger screen. There would be a slot that you could slide your PDA into and the display would appear on a monitor in the wall, more organised than the PDA, and solely for skimming over data entries Perhaps it could also give you additional information on some Fauna, Precursor shenanigans, and Degasi survivor behaviour.

Ideas for what could be included

These are some ideas for what some History Logs could contain. Some are silly little additions, but others could give insight on smaller parts of the story.

1: The Obraxis Prime Massacre

This is something I've always wanted to learn more about, and with these History Logs I'm sure we can. I have some ideas as to what happened that fateful day, but it could be tweaked to fit the story a little bit better.

Obraxis Prime was large planet, home to the invulnerable Obraxis Crystals. Mining colonies were scattered all over the planet in search for these crystals. One day a Trade Prince sailed to the planet, seeking to buy the entirety of Mining Colony X-16's Obraxis Crystals. X-16 declined the offer, but the Trade Prince stayed nearby for days and days. Using an instant fabricator he pieced together a rifle and a thousand and one bullets. He also fabricated a set of body armour from Obraxis crystals he had stolen from the mining operation. He slaughtered every person in and nearby the X-16 Mining Colony, and stole every Obraxis Crystal there was in the facility. He created Obraxis Crystal weaponry and hopped from mining colony to mining colony, killing every person he found, stealing their Obraxis Crystals. As he had finished, the Federation arrived. Even the force of five Federation Battleships couldn't pierce the Trade Prince's armour. He boarded one of these Battleships and began a whole new massacre. His goal was to commandeer the battleship and destroy the others with it. The four other ships attacked the one he had boarded until it's Dark Matter Drive Core detonated, and covered much of the planet in radiation. This radiation sealed the suit shut, and the Trade Prince eventually starved to death on the planet.

2: Craig McGill!

This could be a more silly one. If you don't know, this was the guy who killed bandits, giant spiders and sailed off of Boreal 9 on a Starwal. Here we go... this should be fun :)

Craig McGill was an unusual sort. His father taught him the art of spaceflight at the age of twelve, and as soon as he had mastered this craft he escaped the boring life he had led all these years. He sailed the starways, avoiding the Federation where he could, chasing adventure and glory. As he grew, he encountered more and more dastardly threats on his travels, but all were conquered by the seasoned outlaw, gambler, explorer of worlds, war veteran, miner, craftsman and daredevil. Soon enough he forgot about the fuel gauge on his ship, which was rather low after twenty years of sailing the galaxy. Soon his ship made an "emergency landing", as he so lightly put it, on the swamp-covered planet of Boreal 9, home to outlaws, thugs, thieves, and no small amount of hideous creatures and ghouls that lurk in the mists. He burned bandit camps to the ground, recruiting all there, promising them a brighter future than the dismal lives they followed before. He razed a great army of bandits on this world, and those that did not cooperate as he had intended were shot down by his army. After a year, however, he came across a sickly Starwal, crashed on the planet. He took it upon himself to save the creature, under the guise he was performing this rescue out of sorrow for the poor life. As soon as the Starwal had healed, Craig mounted the creature and sailed away from that barren planet. The bandits rose against each other and all perished in the fighting, and Craig McGill lived to fight on another day.

So there's some ideas. Post your ideas for some history below if you want... I mean I can't make you do anything you don't want...
And if you have any suggestions about the way researching could work post that too! :)

how about finding a set of Craig McGill videos in one of the passengers rooms? Maybe that would give you some kind of buff every time you watch one. Like one where he is fighting a shark, and then stalkers are easier to evade. I like parts of this, but part of the universe is the mystery and imagination of how humanity made these technological advances, in my opinion.
