Baby Animals?

Quite some time ago, the ability to hatch monsters was implemented into the game. This made me quite happy, as I always loved having pet critters in games where allowed. Especially if said critters were generally hostile to you in any other situation.
However at the time, this passivity towards you was restricted to just when they were in the Large Aquarium - now 'Alien Containment'. When you picked the monster up and released it, the creature would immediately revert to its original size regardless of its 'age' as well as assuming its default AI. Generally, this meant it'd immediately turn to attack you.
I hadn't had the chance to play with this mechanic for a while, having been absent for a few updates and returning for the Bones update, so I was a touch surprised when someone tagged a Disagree on a post of mine where I pointed that out (As the last time I had played, it was true). Going in to test that to see if things had changed, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had. I hatched a Stalker and then released it. The stalker retained its smaller size and remained passive towards me. Needless to say, I was quite happy.
However, I was on the wiki a little earlier and it seemed like... People had mixed comments on this. For one, the page is stating something that's clearly out of date at this point - repeating what I had last experienced where the hatched monster would immediately return to its full size and default species AI once released (Which generally meant it'd become hostile again) - but there was some confusion elsewhere. Some people stated that the hatched monsters would resume their default AI after a few hours of gameplay / a few in-game days, but didn't confirm if that was the case or not.
Do the monsters you hatch forever remain towards you if you release them, or do they eventually become hostile again? If I hatched a Stalker and then left it in the Grand Reef for a few days, would it still be passive?

I only tried with a Stalker as well, and only stuck around it for a little while. So I'm wondering if this was an intentional change, that hatched monsters will be docile towards us... Or if it was a bug. I think it makes more sense for them to be docile and retain their small size, than it is for them to immediately revert to their defaults as if you just typed in the /spawn command.
I want a pet stalker swimming around my base being cute ;v;
They don't bond with people.
They're not even mentally capable of it.
To them, you're just the larger entity that feeds them.
As soon as they get bigger, most likely they'll see you as less of a threat and more of a meal.
Well there is the Cute Fish.... :P
The PDA states the Stalkers are quite intelligent, so who can say if the fauna of this one can or cannot show these sorts of things.
Fish can't bond? That's ignorance talking tho I'm not sure I want this to turn into Ark, granted I would like some friendly wildlife not just passive.
Now when you release them they just swim straight off into the distance or attack the first Non-You thing they see.
There could very easily be intelligent creatures. These are alien life forms with no real world allegories.
I doubt we'll be getting any real meaningful interactions with our hatched monsters, other than perhaps being able to loot the hoards your Stalkers end up making. The Cute Fish will likely be the only 'companion' sort of creature we'll ever have.
I hope so, I love me having some passive stalkers swimming around
They're so cute.
Mmm attack the first non-you thing they see? Well then, I'm gonna breed a bunch of Stalkers and Bonesharks and scatter them around my base. Use them as living defenses to deter Biters and Sandsharks and etc from approaching!
I'd hope that they retain their passivity and that was just a temporary hiccup in its AI ^^;
Or maybe it could be a little feature... Like, sometimes your pets just want to be left alone or are feeling a little grouchy. Or maybe it was a love-nip xD
Aaah back to their ancestral home~
