Proper Salvage - PRAWN Laser Cutter

I like that you can pick up small piles of scrap from the wreck and use them for titanium.
I think it would be great if that could go a step further.
Give the PRAWN a laser cutter arm mod, and use it to cut up pieces of the (small) wrecks throughout the game.
It would be fine if it did not work on the big wrecks (you could argue it'd compromise the already shaky structural integrity), but those piles of scrap that are a wall, some frame, and some crates, it'd be useful to be able to cut up the wall or the frame for more scrap titanium, and perhaps other resources as well (copper, silver, other such metals, elements that might be found in that item).
The thought is that later-game modifications require a good amount of titanium, and a way to gather it in bulk would certainly be a boon to the player. e.g. 100 titanium for a single Ultimate Cyclops Reinforcement Module, requires finding 25 small scrap piles.
You could also argue for the player character trying to 'clean up' the mess left by the wreck in such actions, though personally I don't believe it needs a specific justification.
I realize this may be difficult to implement, but it certainly isn't impossible.
Attached (hopefully): an example of the type of wreck I am referring to.
