There is a need for a few additional basic structures for improving base design possibilities.
I'll list a few ideas I had that would greatly improve our ability to design unique, stylish, and functional bases.
Compact Room
A small room the size of a + Corridor with its corners filled in. Has room for basic facilities, like Aquariums, Hydroponics, sleeping quarters, and Water Filtration systems. Ladders can be attached at the center, or in the middle of its 4 walls, similar to the MPR. Would cost 4 Titanium to build, and would be available from the beginning, or located in an early game wreck site.
Stair Corridor and Glass Stair Corridor
A sloped Corridor with stairs that rises up one Corridor level.
Ladders are great, but sometimes you just want stairs.
Costs 2 Titanium, available from the beginning.
Multipurpose Room Stairs
Adds a curved Staircase to gently travel between two floors. Would wrap around Alien Containment units. Would be positioned in the corners of the room, between two Ladder attachment points. Unlocked with the MPR blueprint.
Ladders can go up into the bottom of Observatories, Observatories can be attached to the tops of Corridors and Rooms
Allow Observatories to be attached to the tops of Rooms and Corridor sections, with ladders going up into the center, for a complete 360 degree viewing angle.
External Stairs and Catwalks
A system of building walkways on top of Corridors allowing players to walk around on top of bases above water. External Stairs would run up the side of Corridors and Rooms, allowing players to climb up to the roof from the water or from the ground below. Could be unlocked on the Floating Island.
Elevator Shaft
An Observatory sized Elevator that can be stacked on top of one another to create a lift between multiple floors. Small panel with simple "Up" and "Down" buttons to control. Complete with Elevator music. Made of solid Metal, but wall sections can be replaced by placing Windows, Reinforcements, or Living Walls. Elevator will only stop at floors connected to Corridors, so they can be used to ascend multiple floors without stopping. Could be scanned on the Aurora, or at a Degasi base.

They would be able to go on the sides if going up/down into another compact room, but if they're going up/down into a Corridor, it would only snap to the middle.
