Are You Trying To Make Teams Uneven?

i can't switch to the other team once i join? WTF? What if somebody leaves a 7v6 game and it becomes a 7v5, or if 2 people leave. It's going to be unbalanced until more people join the server? This maybe should happen durring only the first 5 minutes (to prevent the "i know where the hive is" thing you were trying to stop) but not the whole game FFS!

But the inverse is true, and you can't further imbalance the teams by switching to the team with more people.

Oh yeah, and you might want go see if you can delete your other topic before some mod comes along and does it for you.

The whole "can't switch teams" is bull. A good commander knows where the hive is if he gets observatory up fast. A good marine knows where the hive is just by the direction the skulks rush from.

This does sound like a really dumb idea, although it does fix the "recylcing resources exploit." Either way someone could type retry in console and then do it. Is there no better way to prevent this? Some servers are always full and it's not a problem, but not every server has people dying to get in to even the teams.

This should be a server option, not global enforcement.

This was done to prevent players who join one team in the begining, then switch to the other team to get some sort of advantage. Example: Going Alien, building a sensory tower, then switching to Marines. Another example: Going Alien, finding out where their hive is, then going Marines and telling them where their hive is. Yet another example: Going Marines, building 5 turret factories until you have 0 resources, then going Aliens and saying RUSH.

It has its uses, but it should be a tool that admins can choose to use, not policy.

no wonder the rarity of a developer ever responding to these... unnecessities
dont mock the developers PLEASE, making a game isnt easy, yet alone learn to do so...

well, i think it was a good move on their part. i cant count the number of games ive been in when team A starts winning in a 6v6 game, and within SECONDS it becoms 9v3 or worse. its really REALLY sad how players just up and give up all the time.

    gj dev team <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> i love this game

Never that is just impossible, i dont know where people get this idea from. The max dif of two means the teams were 9/7 7/5 6/4 now its 9/8 8/7 6/5 It would only be less if a side actually leaves the server. In this case the no-team-swap rule wouldnt even come into effect. Im sorry i dont mean to insult the devs but it is just a ridiculous rule that solves nothing.

I really hate the slippery slope effect. Once the teams get unbalanced more ppl from the outnumbered team leave...the game becomes boring.

I like the original poster's idea of the no-switch code only being in effect during the first 5 minutes or so. Maybe 10 or 15. But the point is that people switching early-game are usually lamers, and people switching late-game are usually trying to even teams.
Also, with the current can't-join-the-bigger-team code, you *can't* switch teams to make them uneven. If teams are 6-6, and somebody tries to switch, he ends up in the readyroom with teams that are 5-6 -- he HAS to rejoin his old team.

What gets the worst is when the other team complains the teams are uneven, you go to the readyroom, but can't join their team.

Then you go back to join yours, but you can't do that either because there are to many people on it.
Nothing to do but type RECONNET in console.

I agree 100%, I can find their hive in game within 1 minute based on where they come from and sounds in game.

The whole auto-team enforcement issue should be handled by server administrators and whichever mod they want to run (admin mod, etc...)
This was a bad change, and was bitched about on the lanvancouver beta for days! I'm surprised they put this in the final patch, it sucks.

The no team switching thing is pretty much irrelevant. On pub servers the population can change so much during the time a team realizes it's losing that I've changed teams 4 times in 5 minutes trying to even everything out. It ends up that both teams are the same size as before, but half the players have swicthed teams. If we had just waited a minute or two, extra people would have joined the server and evened things out.
