Does anyone else have any gushing confessions of love for UWE that they'd like to state? I think this discussion has trailed off a bit from its original topic...

Agreed on whole statement! This isn't a suggestion thread, this is a thread to confess our love for UWE!

They made a real survival game with a very cool story, and it's looking like you'll be able to play the story alongside the survival pretty well. No survival game that I know of actually has a good story to play through. Minecraft tried... I think... With the Ender Dragon and all. It's a bit weird, though; there's no build up to the dragon, the fight is pretty annoying and not very well done all in all. Minecraft story barely exists, so yea. Then there was No Man's Sky, but... we don't talk about No Man's Sky... (no progression, the story is a dead end, every planet is the same, animals and resources).
In Subnautica, however, the story coincides with the survival. You need to upgrade and advance your tactics to find new segments of the story (unlike No Man's Sky where you can b-line to the centre and only stop at planets when you need resources), and there are two different story lines that you can follow, and you can follow both as well (Degasi and Precursor story lines). There's also the Aurora PDAs, but the Aurora story line gets wrapped up pretty quickly.
I'm rambling, but I could about the Subnautica story and how it is SO MUCH BETTER than every other survival story. Good job devs! You get a clap from me! Several in fact. And I bought a shirt. I'm wearing it right now. Good stuff.

I found the travel mug I bought to be exceptionally useful, outstandingly durable, and really, really beatiful. Does anyone know who works on the concept art for Subnautica? Because several claps to them.
That's not a jet pack. That's a jump jet pack. And it barely can be used abovewater or reach Floater Island without upgrades.
There's a jetpack listed under "Maybe" on the roadmap. As long as it remains there, I'll be hoping.
Ah okay. Though I can't see what use an above-water jet pack would have in an underwater game. After all the islands are not that mountainous.
I thought the same thing. What would the point be? It'd be a pretty expensive shortcut up the Floater Island and anything up there you'd already have looted anyway. The only possible applications I could see would be assistance in making above-water bases after the removal of Terraforming, or if they plan on sticking some stuff on the top of the Mountain island that isn't reachable by foot.
Even then, it'd be a pretty niche application... So other than just for amusement or a few out of the way resource nodes / building above-water bases, there's no point. Maybe there'll be more stuff to do above water in the future, but right now? I just don't see it being all that necessary.

That's fair. I most certainly could use it for base building and would gladly make use of it, but some exploration purpose would be a thumbs-up. My main hope is that the Aurora will be expanded with a higher floor reachable through the outside (PRAWN and jet pack would work) or through the inside (jet pack only).
