[crash] Severe frame drop sometimes unrecoverable [current stable build as of 10-30-2016]

I've been getting really bad pop-in type slowdowns, which sometimes crash the game, other times just freeze it for 15-30 seconds and then it resumes. Typically when entering cluttered areas - approaching seabase, moving through mushroom forest, that sort of thing. The game has always had these issues, but never this severe.
