Multiplayer interactions without multiplayer. Wuuut?

I get that UWE won't be implementing a full multiplayer experience in Subnautica, and while i'm not a dev on the project I can extrapolate the reasons why.
However, I hope that UWE is willing to look at adding some multiplayer like behaviors that may side-step the current implementations limitations.
For example, if the ideas in this thread were implemented, we could add some depth (hah! puns!) to the game that give the feeling that we are not, or were not, the only people that tried to survive on this planet.
What I propose is that certain items (in this exact example, it would be defunct items) would appear in the target players world, which could be salvaged/repaired by the player.
In this proposal, I would limit the interactions to only steam friends of the target player, so that it's not universal.
So, for example, I have four friends playing Subnautica. One of them creates a base that becomes defunct/abandoned, and then it would appear in my world (with some indication of who it came from). Obviously there would have to be some collision checking before spawning things into my world, but it would allow me to stumble upon player made things which would give life to my world. Furthermore, if after a certain set period of time I don't find the abandoned base, it would de-spawn from my world and the environment would reset to what it was beforehand.
Maybe defunct bases/items would only appear in places that I haven't already explored? However if places/objects appeared even after an area was explored, it would give more reason for players to re-explore areas already discovered. Storyline wise, maybe say sediment shifted and revealed previously covered stuff? The tide/current brought it in? Who knows!
I think this could add a whole new dynamic of exploration that would really add to the immersion of the game!
Thanks,
JM

Which means that Subnautica can pretty much be as multiplayer as no man sky is.
