Ok so i got a new monitor today (XF270HU) and it support 1440P and 144Hz. The monitor is freesync and has a "game mode" where it will show the FPS in the top counter. The problem is that it doesnt see 144hz when at 1440P in NS2 (the in game FPS and R_stats both show 144FPS). It does in other games its been working fine...

In game consul type "FPS" and "maxfps 144"
in settings all on low vsync disabled.
When resolution is set to 1080P , i can change maxfps to 60, 90,120, 144, ect. and the in game FPS and the screen FPS match.
When the resolution is set to 1440P, the in game FPS can be anything from 60-200 and all my screen FPS sees is 60FPS.

Is there an issue with 1440P and >60Hz with NS2... Currently just playing at 1080...

Just a hunch, but that sounds like Vsync is activated?

I have a screen with the same specs and encountered no such problem. Are you sure you enabled 144Hz in the windows settings? It also might be that the fps counter of your monitor is simply wrong. Does it feel like 60fps?

how have u connected the monitor to ur graphics card? not all the cable thingies support 1440p@144Hz
    take a look here:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Resolution_and_frame_rate_support_for_DisplayPort
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_comparison

can't seem to find such a thing for DVI but im to lazy to look for it now u can do that urself.

i had it with my 144Hz 1080p when i used displayport -> DualLink DVI adapter it only gave me 60Hz while the regular DualLink DVI Cable gave me the desired 144 Hz
u rly need to check that out

@Handschuh yes I double checked vsync, besides the in game fps is saying 144fps instead of 60fps...

@F0rdPrefect yeah 144hz is enabled... No it doesn't feel like 144hz.

@Absurdon I am display port to display port, it works in other games and the screen shows 144fps

If I alt-tab out to Windows my desktop is 1440p, and my screen fps counter goes from 60 to 144.

If I ONLY change my resolution in game from 1440p to 1080p, then my screen counter goes from 60 to 144hz...

Yeah, NS2 does this. Or Windows. Whatever. I had the same problem with my old monitor.

There's a tool called Custom Resolution Utility that can force Windows to use certain resolutions and refresh rates by basically deleting all the others. So you could just have 1440p @ 144 Hz (and 1080p if you need it) and delete everything else.

Strange, I run ns2 at 144hz just fine but I am using gsync.

I tried "maxfps 30" and the screen still said 60fps. it definitely was 30fps choppy but the screen is still reporting 60fps.

Can anyone vouch for 1440p and 144hz as measured from a screen? I tend to trust the screen fps counter more as it's somewhat removed and it works in other games.

I'm wondering if it's defaulting to a windowed or menu setting. I know when I'm in the menus or loading a map fps is like 30 or 60....

The screen shows the refresh rate, not FPS.

Glad that solved it for you. Just beware that DX11 is in beta and does not always work right. If you have problems make sure you check that out.

It's also worth noting there are memory leaks in the DX11 Rendering, so using it will introduce instability factors to the client. Although, it does tend to run faster (roughly 8-10%) than DX9. So, it really comes down to how long a given NS2 play-session lasts. Also, Shadows do not work in DX11. There are some other cases where emissive materials will have garbled textures.

Well should dx9 be supporting 1440p/144hz??? Seems like a bug.
