Huge chunk missing from my world

I gathered materials to make the PRAWN suit and when I exited my cyclops, I noticed that there was no floor underneath me. I continued to construct the PRAWN suit because I thought that the ground would maybe reappear but my suit sank to the bottom of the map ~300 meters deep. Not all of the floor is missing, however, I swam further and it's almost like a giant square of land was deleted because the original ground ends at a straight line that continues until it meets a corner. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks for any help!
