My first encounter with a Warper was kind of startling, but years of playing sci-fi horror games game me the correct response when the portal opened up next to me while I was exploring a big wreck - I swam for my life and escaped. They do serious damage, screw with my sense of direction, and have now moved to the top of my 'Kill/Avoid' list. The wiki says these are only in experimental, but they are *definitely* in stable/survival on the PC.
