Beacon lost in shipwreck model

I'm running 36618 and recently dropped a beacon at a shipwreck @ 329.0, -90.1, 456.2 in the ventilation shaft while hiding from some sand sharks. The beacon somehow became located inside the geometry so that I cannot retrieve it. I'm not sure if this is because of how the beacon is placed in the world or a hole in the geometry.
