I found out what was the main cause of my frame rate drops in my save file

Thermal plants. I had a whole bunch of them built and I was down to a frame rate of less than 1!

I deleted most of them and now I'm getting a frame rate of 40 which is still too low but that made a big difference.

I bet many of other object types will do the same thing, but thermal plants seem especially bad for this.

I think you're intended to make a few on a vent and use power transmitters to scoot the power over, rather than spamming them. Transmitters have very high range, so it's not even hard. I wonder what the limit is on transmitters and if thermal gens still work when you're far away? Games generally stop running things when there's no players nearby.
