It's Neither Grand or a Reef. -1/10
actually, i could see it be a small predator that could fit in my palm. would i want that thing on my hand? no. probably sting me, bore through, or just chemically scald it.
I don't find that threatening. Also, it'd be kind of hard to see, so you'd get a lot of 'f*ck off game' moments
Hmm, I think it would suit it better if the parts of the creature was slightly transparent which would allow it to blend in better with the environment. The mist would act like the clouds which hide the islands, except they would blend with the water. So with this all together you get a creature you can see in the day, but makes dark exploration all the scarier.
I see it being about the length of a sand shark (they aren't very long), but much more skinner.
Just my ideas

The misty valley: A dark and spooky area, covered in corrosive and poisonous inky mist blasting up from geysers and lot's of cave systems and odd bioluminescent plantlife and creatures. Only accessible by the Prawn using an anti corrosion module. An area with loads of exotic materials and some truly terrifying and huge squids, eels, crustations insect/arachnid type of things...
This creature could maybe live on the edge of said biome, ambushing anything that dares to come close to the misty valley. A sort of introduction to the true horror that's hiding in the mist. Having evolved to cover itself inside this cloud of mist as either an attack or escape mechanism... Dunno just thinking out loud here
