PRAWN vs SeatMoth

Perhaps it's how i developed...but I dont see the point in the PRAWN suit. Given the pain to dock in moonpool if you are high up, the requirement for Cyclops to ferry it around, and the speed/maneuverability of the SeaMoth...it just seems extraneous to the game. Like..cool..got this suit but...other than mining..rather have the SeaMoth. Is anyone using it for something I haven't figured out yet?

Another question..anyone kill a reaper yet? I used up 4 full powercells trying to electrocuting it...no luck.

The PRAWN suit can go much deeper than the Seamoth and is more resilient. I have used it to get my modification station fragments from the Mountains Wreck. It's one of the easier/faster methods to reach that wreck at that point. I have also used it to enter the Lava Zones and, accidentally, the Lost River area. (My Cyclops has been buggedly floating in the air for some time now and I can't be bothered to make a new one.) Other than getting lost, I did just fine and I suspect my experience has been faster and more flexible than the Cyclops could've given me. Depending on how things develop, I might leave the Cyclops at home in the future too.

I think one of the good points of this game is that we get lots of items for different yet balanced strategies so that it can suit the preferences of different players. I never use weapons other than the stasis rifle for scanning and if more eggs get implemented I might never use it all anymore in the future. Some people swear by pipes in early game, but I've never used them either.

The moonpool bit is probably valid (cliffside bases would be a problem, at least without the jet upgrade and grappling hook), but it's not like you couldn't build a base in other places certain vehicles can't reach. Can't say I've tried, but I expect the Cyclops cannot reach the JSC. And if you build in reaper territory, all but the Cyclops are poor choices.

The one complaint I have that I need to be looked into is that, like I experienced earlier with crabsquids and the seamoth, NPCs attack the PRAWN inside moonpools. And given it's hanging with its toes in the water... Mrs. Stalker from next door doesn't seem to be able to harm it since I've upgraded the hull, but she still comes by to try.

How did you make Sulpher for the Jet Pack?

I gathered it in the Active Lava Zone, first three at the border with the Inactive Lava Zone. If you choose to take the PRAWN suit there (bring food and drinks and a compass!), I recommend to equip for mobility and durability. Energy conservation, heat energy regain, hull protection, and the depth module, grappling arm and either a claw arm or propulsion cannon arm. A few beacons might also not hurt to spare you getting lost like I did. I didn't discover my way back to the surface - in the Blood Kelp Zone - until at about 20% energy.

Which reminds me, I took the entrance in the Deep Grand Reef (I found it pre-PRAWN update, so I knew it existed) to the Lava Zone. This entrance probably does not fit a Cyclops, but is fairly direct. That might also be considered a perk of the PRAWN suit: the Seamoth is stuck at 900m and the Cyclops can only go through certain entrances.
