Rarity of materials

I'm playing on Xbox one and have just created a new world and have noticed materials are slightly rarer. I was looking for salt deposits for the welder and could not find any. Is this a bug or a deliberate thing done by the developers...

Check the red grassy areas,carefull with the sharks. if nothing try reloading.

Might be a bug. I started a new Survival save with today's update and have been finding plenty of salt deposits in the Safe Shallows.

There's a few sandstone deposits that constantly respawn in little alcoves down in that hole where the steam vents out in the safe shallows, should be right near where your life pod lands.
