Rephrase all you want. This experience and results has come with playing/training with, and spectating training between some of the best, most competent players ns2 has seen, and tracking a skulk with celerity has proven more difficult than without, and done so more than substantially. This would not repeat for medicore players or new players in the same degree at all.
The skulk around the corner scenario has more to it than just closing the distance faster. It also has to do with metagame, and ping. The celerity skulk jumps around the corner, because its not expected, and the ping allows him a tiny peekers advantage, enlargened by the celerity.
Skulks dont escape, as they simply dont have the HP to close in the distance, and get away from the marine again - they win or they lose engagements, or they dont take them at all.
What you call a bite or two more because you can close the distance faster against a marine, is more like centiseconds, which isnt enough too get even a single bite off.
It appears we have different ideas about baiting: When I say baiting, I mean tricking the marine to shoot at nothing, emptying the magazine to allow for an engagement. This can be done through use of cover, and peeks. You are not meant to take damage. I think, what you refer to is tanking, which, for skulks, in the teams i've played in, has been refered to as taking useless damage and delaying engagements.
I "downplay" the speed increase around the map, because the aliens are already, like, twice as fast, and it would only in extreeme cases matter if you

well my experience: high skilled marines will bait doorways (mean when closing in to the door they jump backwards expecting a skulk to reveal themself) so I usually jump towards them slightly before they do that bait so when they jump back I am in biterange already (this is easier with celerity but also works with cara imo)... my 2 cents about the skulk around corner scenario
Regen is shitty on onos in my recent experience, due to the current boneshield. The armor regen on top of the new max armor carapace gives you will ALWAYS be stronger than regen. Or am I alone in this experience?
That is a fair point. I have still been using regen. With the new bone shield I have been able to keep my health up fairly well.
