Honking the Cyclops' horn is a very satisfying experience. But what if it also actually served a purpose?

How about if the Cyclops' horn scared away creatures that are smaller than the Cyclops. Stalkers, sand sharks, possibly crabsquids, etc. But to balance this it also had the unfortunate side effect of attracting larger creatures in the area (reaper leviathans, sea dragons, etc)

What if when you scan a creature it gives you an audio file of their noise which you can then upload to the Cyclops? If you use the sound of a peeper, it will attract anything that eats peepers. If you use the sound of a stalker it will scare away whatever it eats and attract anything that eats it, and so on and so on until you somehow are able to scan a reaper leviathan and scare everything away (save maybe the sea dragon and emperor).

even if you cant scan a creature (lest ye be its lunch), you could manufacture a hydrophone to record calls over X days and use that as a recording. that's how oceanographers call whales and other open ocean creature.

The hydrophone idea sounds great! Except you'd need to be able to upgrade it using hard to find materials, so that beginners can't instantly pick up a reaper and have nothing attack them ever if their cyclops is around.
Also yea, that video came to mind as I was writing, too!
