This is a couple of things. One is a QoL suggestion... getting outside of the Seamoth to scan something or pick something up is awkward. It would be way nicer if you could add a scanner/collector arm to it. Possibly as an upgrade module. Also, letting you open your inventory while in the Seamoth would be nice. Either that, or taken items could go directly to the Seamoth's storage bay.
Secondly, with something like this you could gate off depths you are able to swim at. Its fairly immersion breaking that you can pilot your little sub down into an ocean trench... the pressure crushes the titanium hull like a beer can... and you pop out of it and trololol. Swimming away. You should atleast have to craft something like an atmospheric diving suit equippable, and eventually the exosuit.
I don't have the experience to give numbers, but perhaps unaided you could dive to around 300 meters. Below that and you'd start to black out. An atmospheric diving suit can go to up to 700 meters, and you'd need the exosuit to go deeper than that.
