This is a short video (5 minutes) on some real world creatures that live underwater. I suspect that if you enjoy Subnautica, you will be excited by this video.

This is the link, where you can download the video clip to your computer if you prefer (its about 45 Mb total size): https://www.ted.com/talks/david_gallo_shows_underwater_astonishments

And this is the video itself.

If you enjoyed that one, you'll like this one, but its longer (about 13 minutes). It shows life around thermal vents, and makes you appreciate how well the Devs are doing, emulating real life terrain features like the 'black smokers' we see in Subnautica.

those 2 videos were amazing! Thriving life at extreme depths that depends on vents releasing 600 degrees acidic sulphur and all that stuff is very interesting.

Its true the devs really nailed the underwater vents and the bioluminescence
I would love to see creatures in the game that can change color to imitate its environment as well, that would be awesome!

One of the things he mentions in the second video is that most of the deep sea life (60-70%) is in the form of jellyfish of various designs - the soft membrane over the internals, and often some kind of colony symbiosis. In game, this is best represented by the Floaters, and the Crabsquid. I love the biology of those two critters in Subnautica. The tubeworms on those vents look a lot like the Furled Payprus plant in game, too.
