I'm very much in favour of the whole derelict idea, with a very dark look and flashing lights etc. Maybe let the marine start have functional lights, or let them have set up lights, and let the amount of lighting degrade from there. I'd really like you to go wild with smashing this map up and creating that NS atmosphere. Few things are as eery as those that are beautiful.

A more specific idea could be a large dining room, with tables skulks would run underneath and marines would jump atop of. Just make cetain you inlcude a Grand Staircase somewhere. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about... you could even make the Grand Staircase one of the hives, and make the hive hang where the chandelier would...
