Floating dead

With a crew being on the downed craft i would assume dead bodies would be in the hull of the craft and spread across the surface and bed of the local area.

Also maybe over time the bodies would rot or bloat. Even mutate with some kind of chemical reaction on the alien planet.
Floating wreckage could be on the surface too.

I always just pretend the dead were eaten by the local fauna

What if they didn't die and managed to escape the wreckage. Or they could've been vaporized by the explosion. But another option is that their bodies were eaten by a virus that feeds on dead corpses.
