Its quite true that the game's Lava have nothing to do with what we see in the videos you posted. While the devs made this very beautiful game i can hardly see them creating lava of such details that it will come even close to what can be seen in real life sadly
You do realize that youre comparing real life underwater lava with what can be seen in the game, right? Maybe if you could find videos of lava in another game that you think is as good or come close to real life lava, then maybe we could establish a more accurate comparision i think

TBH, the real life lava is not as pretty. Even if the pools of lava on the ocean floor look unrealistic in Subnautica. I'd still rather have them instead of dark moving rock that occasionally bursts into lava bubbles Ingame it is also a light source and adds a very dramatic albeit unrealistic effect.

Gonna have to agree with Kouji_San here. As much as I love realism in a game, this is an instance I feel artistic license should trump realism.
And I'm sure someone much smarter than I could come up with a reason how/why the lava is behaving differently here with some sort of reasonable scientific facts to back it up.

Yup. Boiiling bubbles, smoke, and crackling noises.
I can deal with bubbles...
