Tips&Tricks

I've finally managed to make a massive and so far stable base. Frame rate is not bad and I also have many of the features known to stress the game in place. In my base I have a work area and small garden, 2x 2 story fish tanks (1 food and 1 for hatching), the moonpool, and a very long causeway leading to a very large cyclops dock/maintenance structure. I have the cyclops in my game currently along with the seamoth and vehicle platform. So far only 3 spotlights running at key points and all powered by a nearby thermal vent. I'll add a screenshot or short walkthrough when I figure that out but in the meantime I would like to share a few observations that might help.

I think this might be my 8th or 9th attempt to have a satisfactory save in the Xbox version and the biggest change this time I think has to be much care to make sure no part of my base or build interferes with any terrain or spawned corals/plants. I had to go to slightly deeper water to start from my pod and I think my foundation is at 40 meters or so and near pod3 if you know where to find that. I started on foundation and made sure it is above the floor and any spawned feature. In some places that is only by inches but it is completely clear and wont interfere with terrain respawn in travel or reload.

Save in segments. --- Simple to say but the game is unstable and you sometimes do not see the impact right away. Chop your work into small sections. Make a section of a base and TEST. Complete a section and Walk around a bit and even go off of that land tile and return. When you see it has not broken the game then save and reload to get a good idea of how that addition is really impacting the game.

My base can be a bit touchy when the seamoth is docked in the moonpool or cyclops. I usually make any changes needed and then park it outside to relieve the stress.

Changing the cyclops interior or adding anything seems to be very hard on the game.

In my current base I have spread it out a lot more than previously to a sprawling design with long accessways and kept the buildings separated into tasks. For example Active 2 story fish tanks are a moderate system load due to the number of fish in them. That's why i only have the 2 tanks currently and they are probably the distance of 6 walkway sections away from the moonpool as it is a system load also. My workshop is 8-10 walkway sections from both of those. I have an elaborate observation area overlooking the magma vent and my thermal generators and then a silly long glass tube likely 20 pieces away to my escape pod location and cyclops docking structure (made of glass 60ish tubes and foundation pieces but looks cool). I cant see one side of my base from the other at most times of day.

I really started this save file just to push my luck and see how far i could take it before we see updates but I am surprised how stable and quick I've been able to maintain with the base this large so I wanted to share what I could. I'd be glad to hear any other positive things players have noticed help avoid issues.
