<div class="IPBDescription">many dont know this</div> On the first weekend I asked a playtester if it was possible to unweld, welded vents. That individual said no. What help they were LOL. Well anyways, it turns out that gorges can unweld vents with its spit ability. Many people don't know this. So remember that gorges! It can turn the tide of battle. I think on another thread in this forum, it said that servers sometimes make them indestructible.

I used spit, healing spray and even web on the welded vent leading to the marine spawn next to the engine room.
Guess what, nothing happened.
One time welds I understand, like the laser or control panels.... but a vent should be chompable imo.
Kheras
Welded-open control panels, on the other hand, can be manipulated by Kharaa just as easily as they can by marines. Hera's full of those, you weld open the panel then use it to close vents and those huge blast doors. All it takes is anyone running by and using the panel again to undo that condition. Of course, they have to be opened with the welder first, so a human has to run up and pop the panel open before it can be messed with.
There are two, in the vents on either side of the corridor that runs along the elevator leading down out of the marine spawn. These are the only two breakable welds I have found so far in the entire game, and only a gorge's spit has ever been able to destroy them (if the weld is breakable, it will go down in one hit)

Ah .. there are no elevators on ns_caged. You must mean bast, no?
Breakable welds are a mapper variable, NOT a server variable. This means that the mappers makers have full control of which welds can be destroyed.
SOME vent welds on SOME maps are breakable. Most are not. Only experience and testing will let you find out.
Broken welds can not be re-welded (though apparently it is in the woodworks as a possible future feature).
