Windows Crashes Hard When I Enter The Water

Hey all. So, I'm experiencing severe crashing while playing Subnautica. The game launches fine and my save loads without any problems, but the moment I step out of the lifepod and into the water, my PC crashes. That's a full-on Windows crash, with the computer restarting and everything. Now, I've tried everything in the crash guide that applied to my system (Read: I skipped the Mac stuff), and I have the game currently forced to DX9 per the guide's suggestion. No dice. I tried blasting both my installation and my save files, but nothing seems to be helping. I didn't have this problem prior to the last major update (the one that prompted me to start a new save file).

Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.4ghz (Ivy Bridge)
16GB of DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
