i think it would be cool to be able to fabricate nets that you can place on the surface of the water that go down to the seafloor you would build these nets in sections and join them together they would snap to each other when you place them down and you could turn them in any direction and once you make one enclosed area with the net with no gaps or holes any creatures already inside or placed inside the netted area by the player would never despawn and would breed with each other over time so you could farm them.

or maybe you could do something like a stasis field that is more like a force-field that fish can swim into but cannot swim out. like the bubble from the stasis rifle but maybe bigger and doesn't freeze everything inside of it.
