Lots of people want the ability to turn titanium ingots back into titanium. I think all the metal and mineral resources should have some sort of purified form. It would make it a lot easier to store or move lots of material.
10 of any mineral/metal makes an ingot.
Ingots take up a 2x2 space.
Ingots can be broken back down (except plasteel) to 9 of the individual material.
So ingots would save you a lot of space, but at a cost of 10% of your resources.

Why increase the size of ingots? 1x1 space is fine.
Why lose a resource when you deconstruct it? Surely tech has advanced enough to recollect all the resources.
Losing one when deconstructing an ingot is to balance the benefit of being able to store more. The lockers have 48 inventory slots. If ingots only take one spot and deconstruct perfectly then you could fit 480 items in a locker. That's a ridiculous amount and makes inventory management mostly pointless. If Ingots take up 4 spaces and only deconstruct to 9 that same locker now only holds 12 ingots that can be turned into 108 items. That more than doubles the storage of a locker, but you have to decide if it's worth burning the resources to take advantage of it.
The 1x1 space is because the titanium has been super-condensed into an ingot. We're using futuristic fabricators, not forgeries and molds.
Concerning the second point, clarify to me if this is either gameplay or story oriented. I understand the for enormous amount of items that could be stored but can I suggest 2 things to overcome this. Keep your ideas, but only use one instead of the other((10 titan = 1x1 ingot. 1x1 ingot = 9 titan) or (10 titan = 4x4 ingot. 4x4 ingot = 10 titan)), or just add the condensed ingots and don't do anything else.
