Variety in parasited marine AV color for better teamwork potential

Right now in many vs. many fights the best teamwork that is practical for aliens is either "get the parasited one" (no good if too many parasites and that creates bad incentives) or coarse calls like sweeping left-to-right (not very nuanced and devalues intel on gear and damage).

Instead parasited marine AV colors can come from a pool. Maybe only the outline of the marine takes the color to to best mesh this with custom AVs.

On huge servers or as otherwise necessary it'd be okay to gently recycle colors but prefer an unused color when possible.

For good schemes check colorbrewer2.org. Make sure to pick qualitative data type and set an appropriate number of classes.

This would not be easy to do as it's tricky to have different color outlines of things in the AV shader.

Is it outlines specifically that are problematic? Could just do models and say fuck the custom AVs.

If someone decides to work on this, please try to think about us poor colorblind people. ydy's site has colorblind-friendly palettes; this site also has options.

Looking at that I actually personally like the colorblind safe colors better for NS2 than the brighter ones anyway

Well, models would also be either slightly less tricky, or way more difficult to do. Specifically AV outlines is where is becomes difficult to do. Outlines like the ones you see in spec, and around weapons are easier to do, but aren't the same as the parasite outlines (different code last time I worked on the game).
