So does anyone know that the Subnautica developer team will be adding other submersibles like the manta from the concept art or other surface only ships?
To be honest I really don't see the point of introducing an y new submersibles. I feel that the Cyclops and the Seamoth are all we need. As for a surface speed boat, yes that would be a neat idea but only if the world gets bigger. At the moment it doesn't take that long to swim the breadth of the map.
a surface boat would be nice.... inflatable boat of some kind with a motor that can be anchored or moored to a structure outside our seabase...
but what I would really like to see.... is something on a cross with the seamoth and exosuit.... this ship would have to mobility of the seamoth but with the arms like the exosuit. this sub would be able to store excess resources in a storage compartment... only real difference is the shape... it would be more of a torpedo shape, and the pilot would be lying down looking out a bubble controlling the arm you can use to scavenge for resources...

The only other planned submersible for the game is the exosuit, which we'll be getting in May.
There was mention at some point in a trello doc about the possibility of a module which would turn the seamoth into a hydrofoil, but I think the idea might have been dropped.
I would like a surface vessel but the map isn't really that big and you can get from A to B pretty quickly in a seamoth. The only use for a surface vessel would be hauling large quantities of materials. Which isn't often necessary and the cyclops can get that job done albeit slowly.
How about we simply give the seamoth a hover upgrade?
A hydrofoil module was being considered at one point. I suspect Myrm has it right though. The map isn't very big and can be traversed very quickly as it is. An even faster surface vehicle isn't needed and might make the map seem even smaller.
If you think about it, the only place for Subnautica to go is either up or down.... so surface structures for the base like a dock would be an amazing addition (and would give you a place to tie up a surface craft). I'm not suggesting that the game go the way of becoming an underwater Martha Stewart simulator, but some more decorating options would be grand in my opinion.

I saw a suggestion sometime back about a seamoth module that adds manipulator arms to the front. I thought that was an excellent idea.
Perhaps interchangeable attachments to those arms, such as your drill, or laser cutter?
Or perhaps that would take too much utility away from the exosuit. ...
