There's some things I would love to see in this game that could do so much to help players get around, take note of and adapt to their surroundings. We have diving reels and air bladders, so what about combining both those to create a makeshift buoy? Guide ropes on buoys have so many possibilities for navigation and utility, and the ropes can be used to tie-off pieces of equipment such as lights or slates. Create a bunch of underwater lights and attach them to the ropes and you've got a great way to illuminate your surroundings, and an alternative to flares for navigation without having to worry about making sure they don't roll away into holes. With pipes and brain coral as reliable sources of air, being able to stop off and note your surroundings on a dive slate with text input and free-hand drawing would be brilliant. Attach dive slates tied to guide ropes and you can map the area and take note of things in your surroundings, or carry a slate with you as a checklist of things to get on your expeditions. Also, craftable wrist compasses would be incredibly useful, giving us our bearing underwater without having to surface to take note of our orientation relative to the aurora.
