Can't get past loading screen since last update

Hey there, just need a little help here 
so before updating my computer would go through the usual "freeze briefly before starting the game thing"
now, the update has added this little extra info tab thing to the right side giving me a bunch of info and such that I honestly have no clue what it all means, but that's not the issue (its just relevant because the numbers it contains constantly change, giving clear visual cue as to when it does and does not freeze... which it no longer does)
the game will load up, I will hear my diver dude breathing, the water, and will be able to access the inventory using the tab key, BUT the loading screen with the info bar will remain up... help?
