Another Free Weekend to bring players back?

I was recently crazily impressed as i jumped back to play NS2 after knowing about some last good patches.
Performance was just great. Of course not perfect, but at least so much playable.
As the biggest reason why people left playing NS2 was the performance, i do think it's time for another event like Free Weekend to collect players back.
Or, if those NS2-Simplifying project will become true with gameplay systems, revamping/rereleasing the game with fully new advertisement and events would be great.
Seriously, i should say this : Natural Selection has always had potential to be kinda perfect and ultimate game. Last time i played, i could see it being actualized.
Best thing for me was that the game is still so fresh and new and modern even after 3.5 years since the release. Still the most individual and the most unique game i've ever played.
GJ Dev teams, the former Community Team.
And good luck also with Subnautica which is already unbelievably successful

That being said, past NS2 free weekends bombed because they were usually launched alongside large sweeping changes that broke the game for a large number of users. So even after the new changes and improvements are added they should wait a bit for them to stabilize.
Then finally, time it so it's happening during a lull of game releases where it'll be easier to get players to come back or try it for the first time. Maybe give a small cosmetic reward for players active during the free weekend as well to incentivize playing during it.
