Game not starting stays on mode selection screen

I have twice installed and uninstalled the game but I am still not able to start the game as whenever I try to click the new game button then sub select the game mode it just stays on the home screen and the mode button is just highlighted is this a bug or can I fix this? I can still move my cursor and select options or quit game but just can't start the game as the button behaves as if it's a empty hyperlinked and I can only click it.....!
Please help fast
The same problem is with my friends Who are using non steam game.....
