So, I have a feeling that we all know about Bulkheads. If not, where have you been?
Anyway. So, the purpose of Bulkheads is to separate sections of a base, so that if one part is compromised, the rest stays safe. But, a lot of people, myself included, probably also use them simply as basic doors, since they're all we have in that respect. So, what I'm proposing is to have a total of four types of door (including the Bulkhead) that can be placed into the Seabase.
Firstly, the bulkheads. They would retain their current form and purpose, just that they wouldn't need to be used for other things.
Second, the basic Door. Separates two parts of a base, placed much like a Bulkhead. However, it's less expensive, it's able to be opened faster, and it doesn't prevent flooding from crossing through it. These would be used as doors into rooms and so on. If, like me, you like building massive bases that could logically hold massive amounts of people, simple doors would be incredibly useful.
Third, the Personal Door. When built, it will add a Key to your inventory (which, in the event of multiplayer being a thing, you could obviously give to others). The Personal Door would work much the same as the simple Door, but with a very slightly higher cost, and it can't be opened without the proper key. Again, useful for massive complexes. You don't want some random stranger walking into your bedroom.
And finally, the Gate. My idea for this is that it's four Corridors tall and four wide, so it's actually an entire section all on its own. The Gate is controlled via an automatically-placed control panel in one of the Corridors it is connected to. Obviously, its only two modes are "Open" and "Closed." This could be used to keep out undesirables (looking at you, Reaper), but also to allow the Cyclops to enter the area of the base. If you build an entire encirclement of corridors going from the surface to the seafloor (I have done so), and replace a 4x4 section with a Gate, it will allow you to have quite an effective, not to mention safe, submarine pen.
