Fiber Mesh Fish Farm

I think in the long term, the ability to raise fish in the large aquarium is going to trivialize the food mechanic. It's just too easy.
I suggest considering fiber mesh fish farms that can be anchored to the seabed and suspended with floaters. They could have a chance of attracting predators to the area and suffer periodic wear and tear, which if left unrepaired will eventually allow both predators to enter and fish to escape.
The water filtration unit is similarly problematic. I'd consider massively increasing its power requirements and maybe add some kind of a mechanic that requires repairing the unit or swapping out filtration components.

As you develop new tech, you make mundane tasks easier, because you have other more complex tasks to manage. It's called game progression. By the time you are managing 5 bases, running exploration trips and doing whatever else gets added to the game, having to catch food and water is the last thing you want to do. It's like saying now we have progressed from huts in fields to sprawling cities, we should still be getting our food the same way we used to. Hunting for it. You can do that if you want, I'd rather go to the supermarket and use the time saved more constructively.
