Realistic Spear gun as a balanced weapon

I'm sure you've heard this all before, but with the advent of survival mode that requires you to hunt for fish in order to survive spearguns should be implemented. As someone who has real experience spearfishing i think they'd be a great addition to the game. The basic function of them would be to increase a players reach when targeting fish. Speargun's have one single shootable spear in them ( that you've got to retrieve after each shot ), that has to be reloaded after each shot. The reload time on a speargun in real life is generally more then ten seconds! It'd just make life easier, and make the underwater survival experience feel more authentic. Each spear has a line of cable that tethers it to the gun, which prevents the spear from being carried off by fish. The idea is that it'd be a simple, primitive instrument for extending the range of a players grasp when targeting fish. From 20,000 leagues under the sea to the adventures of Jacques costau spear fishing has always been an iconic and central part of underwater activity. Please, i beg of you! read up on spearfishing and see the realistic side of what they actually are- A tool, not a weapon.

Sounds amazing I hope they implement this as it would be a good addition to the survival aspect of the game. Hope this gets through to the admins.

Even a Hawaiian Sling spear would do the trick.

Takes skill to use one effectively, and there's no way known you could successfully use it against any of the larger predators.

yeah you are right but even a pole spear could be implemented but I think a pole spear is to much of a plain weapon that no on will want it.

If it would take multiple shots to take out a shark or stalker, I'm all for this. The challenge is timing and aim.

I don't know, the stasis rifle and gravsphere already makes hunting a breeze.

I don't think making it a breeze is the point, but I see a pertinent point here. What's the difference between a speargun and a stasis rifle, really? One impales, the other freezes, but both come to the same end.
