Most impressive thing, that constantly reminds us about how we ended in this s***t in a middle of nowhere...
Well, it's kind of useless... All we know it brought us here, it was high tech and it had a kind of nuclear reactor. In game we know that it's interface is responsible!... so let use it!
1) Aurora is now a wreck, yet leaking core still allows to communicate with us (one way communication only)
2) Since core explosion the mothership is radiated fireball shooting parts. Way to dangerous to come near (also we struggle for life, so there is no way to come close)...
...This is game play for now and it's awesome and dynamic, I'd change nothing here, yet it seems to end here and here I want to show you my ideas that will make game more interesting... lets start with first exploring
3) I assume that explosion killed all life aboard and electronic impulse killed all electronics and UI (terminals). PDA inactive. When approaching ship our own PDA should inform us that wreckage is unresponsive and warns player that wreckage is a death threat. At this moment we have only primary tools as welder. Repairing core or leakage with this tools is impossible, but there is a TERMINAL. Not working though..., but our PDA says that if we construct new computer chip and replace burned wirings (1 computer chip, 2 wiring kits), and wield that all together (wielder), it can copy factory settings and Player might be able to access primary commands manually. Success!
4) Terminal boots up, reset, detecting changes in hardware, fails few times, bypasses some things, passes and fails few more times then simple command based interface appears asking user to bypas primary functionalities. When finally activates user gets an information that secondary power supplies are at critical level (batteries almost dead) and leaking. Of course, charging devices are broken/lost. Terminal has few minutes to send short instructions how to get it back before it dies again... bummer
5) our PDA got instructions that Aurora secondary power cells are damaged. We need do find a way to get to them, remove, scan (using scanner we learn to create power cell substitute from sources available on planet! PDA get info form scanner and figures out substitute). Now we need to create four cells (*tasks for aurora should be rather time consuming and quite complex)
6) We came back to Aurora with cells! Installing aaaand... nothing. At least until we wield damages in power cells corpse. It works now, terminal starts up! For the first time since explosion Aurora PDA can be heard! Awful quality though, probably due to huge radiation. We got first history log from just before explosion time, but after crash. It informs us that for security reason data libraries were sealed up to reduce data loss. For any other information we got response DENIED or ERROR/MALFUNCTION/NOT FOUND. But APDA (from Aurora-PDA) has more bad news for us. Reactor chamber reports of leaking. Radioactive toxins keep radiating so much, our suit is not good enough. What is worse, chamber is in section under water and flooded! There is droid somewhere on board that survived explosion, but due to power issues it is not responding. APDA needs time to find it by turning on and of cameras and detectors where possible one by one. It has to little energy to do more (we just need to wait few days). But before player figures out how to get to droid, we need to figure out two more important issues: 1) How to recharge power cells with power? 2) How to repair and enable water pumps system to drain water from reactor chamber?
7) APDA helps us with first one by sending solar panel and power transmitter prints We will have to create one panel per power core, install it outside ship, and by transmitter send power to socket in hull.
8) APDA handles power to power cells We got new information about blueprints of various new parts, we got upgrades to Seamoth too! Still for security/power reasons and radiation most data is secured.
9) Good news. Pumps are working, but pipes were shredded during previous events. APDA has energy to open sealed doors to compressor room (it is under water too, wielding will bee more interesting that way). We need to fix compressor and pipes in the room and in few corridors, then run procedure. Dumping this water to ocean would not have been appreciated by Greenpeace for sure... (radiation field spreads noticeably, not enough to reach pod luckily).
10) In meanwhile APDA probably found droid. To access it we need to fix lock in door (1x computer chip, 1x (simple) wiring), but getting there is relatively easy. Droid is inactive. Scanning tells us that batteries were fried (aaah, same problem again, it's like post-apocalyptic ). Memory is fried too. (3x computer chip, 3x advanced wirings, 2x power cell, 3x copper wire, 1x welder, 2x titanium). Wow, it really takes a lot of resources to get this freaking R2D2 back :P
11) Okay APDA is loading drone with fresh software including reactor fixing. In this situation collecting and installing data will take time. Radiation is an enemy too. But form this point our work should be done...right?
12) APDA informs player that droid is working. Finally! Minutes after we got another problem. Explosion damaged reactor blast doors dead closed. Droid cannot handle that much too We need to bypass lock... by that i mean to cut it with our new toy, LASER CUTTER. Thanks for blueprint and new data!
13) Uff done, one more information from APDA... run away! High radiation is too much for your suit (for few next days player cannot enter radiation sphere, otherwise it will suffer radiation, no matter what suit one is wearing).
14) Fantastic news! Core is not leaking and radiation is stabilized Unfortunately high radiation in core chamber took its toll damaging droid. We need that one for detoxification system to work (1x computer chip, 1x advanced wiring, 1x power cell). You can see from the looks of room how much work this one did... it surely paid off to repair it. More good news! Due to fixes in core, some energy could be reused to make small power generator... just enough for APDA to get access to new data. Furthermore, doors to crew room (nice looking, some cool pictures of crewmates) and small supply room are now opened Seems explosion did barely damaged it.
15) Another few days since droid is functional again... guess what, radiation is gone! Good work! APDA sounds now very well with clean voice. Clean environment really suits it. Access to all, well at least not destroyed, data is now gained! This "Cyclops" submarine prototype looks promising...
... well, this ends this 'campaign' draft. Additionally in next days droid should do minor fixes on Aurora like repairing wires, repairing hull, gaining access to new rooms and restoring them accordingly to historical data from ship cameras. From time to time it will ask player for some supplies. We all like to see restoring broken things to former glory, right? Of course this ship will remain wreckage, but a nice one Droid is programmed to fix, even if this makes no sense APDA can also gain some functionalities, like sonar or scanner to order player minor quests based on location.
This is really the end of article. Thank you very much, if you spared your time to read all this. I'd also appreciate yours opinion about this. Of course that was draft and 'idea-and-solution', so please, take me easy :P It took me about 2h to post this...

I believe that the developers are working on some sort of story-line or a campaign that provides a series of goals for players to achieve. I'm writing my own story ('Aurora Falls') about what happened after Aurora crashed. It's in the General Discussion forum.
As for your story, please go right ahead with it. I can only claim sole authorship of what I've actually written, and even then it's largely based on UWE's Subnautica existing world-frame. Have fun with playing with the JUNO AI construct. She's a fun girl.
Word of caution: Since The Dev's lawyers haven't squashed me like a bug yet, I can only assume that it's safe to proceed.
*Fingers crossed for luck.*
No, I haven't played SW KOTOR yet. Truth be known, I'm still paddling my way through Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Half-Life 2 +.
