Loading game breaks equipment

Bug has happened to me twice so far across two separate games. Upon loading a save-game while holding equippable items (knife, speeder, beacon, etc), the game will glitch resulting in those items being dropped from the hot bar at the bottom. Re-keying these items results in an animation for holding the item (see screenshot) but the item itself is unusable.

Devs, please let me know what I need to provide as-far as the save game for your use. Thanks.

This seems to be going around. Here is post from steam forums in the bugs area regarding same issue including my reply with the same issue and a picture of my attempt to drop the tools and pick them back up...

Looking for solution since this is kinda game breaking if you want to save, its not if you don't save I guess... tools become useless.

Edit: I had steam verify the game, did not find anything wrong.
