Seems very edgy, you'll get 15-20 fps on lowest settings maximum, and that's me being very optimistic

So i should not buy it?

to be helpful... you might be able to squeeze some performance out of it like 20fps max, but you have a laptop processor and integrated graphics which does not offer desirable performance or performance at all. Good luck running it, but i doubt it will.

    Hey guys I'm new here.

So I've recently bought a new GPU and was wondering why I'm hitting problems with this game.

    My specs are:

    Interl Core i5-4460 3.20 GHz

    8GB RAM

    64 bit OS (windows 8.1)

    GPU Geforce GTX 980

And I've got like 656GB free of memory on my hard drive!

I'm currently in the middle of making a computer (still got my old original case) so the only fans I have in it are the ones connected to the CPU and the ones in built to the gpu.

What kind of problems? Stuttering, crashing, or what?

Crashing when loading, if I manage to get past loading then freezing after every minute or so or even the water being purple and glitchy.

    Are you in experimental mode?

Nope, either recommended or minimum. I've just had to refresh my computer as I had some corrupt Windows files that would not repair and just tried again and it froze at the loading screen on recommended.

For anyone wondering if their system will run Subnautica, I recommend first searching the 3dmark database (make sure "FireStrke" is selected). Input your GPU and CPU (e.g. CPU: "Intel i5-4460" and GPU: "NVIDIA Geforce GTX 980", and filter down to 1 GPU once the results come back). If you don't get any results, try fiddling with the CPU and GPU names as it is a bit picky about what you enter. Scroll down a bit to get the average, as the first entries tend to be misleading.

The Subanutica System Requirements says "GPUs scoring greater than 950pts in the 3DMark Fire Strike benchmark" is "minimum" to run the game reasonably at 1080p. If you are willing to run at lower resolution and minimum settings, you could probably survive down to about half that, or ~500 points minimum, and get around 20fps. Anything over 5000 points should be able to run the game in high-performance mode.

@EpicWorm27 No. Even if you do manage to get it to work it will be so hindered you won't have a very good gaming experience.

@Lunchbox89 Do you have the most recent drivers installed? Are you sure you're running off the 980 and not integrated somehow? Also download your card's performance software (E.G. MSI's afterburner, EVGA's precision X) and check your temps. If it's a relatively new card (which a 980 should be) it probably isn't heat related, but you never know, thermal paste can be applied bad.
