[Linux] [Bug Report] Buttons that should be held are now spammed

ViVnetViVnet Join Date: 2004-05-27 Member: 28947Members, Reinforced - Shadow
For example, holding the Tab key to display the scoreboard results in a spamming of the Tab key, which is represented visually by a rapid flickering of the scoreboard.

Additionally, other buttons that should be held, like Duck, rapidly spam duck instead of simply holding the duck.

Please fix, game is now unplayable.

Definitely something from the recent update. It's not happening with any of my other games. Mouse and keyboard both trigger the same effect.

You mean the one that was reverted/rolled-back?

Do you have any mods enabled? Try disabling them.

    Any errors in the console?

What other keys does it affect other than crouch/tab? Spacebar/jump?

When was the last time you installed package updates? Something that updated might have caused the issue.

I'm not sure which patch it would be; I can't remember which one I played last without this issue.

    No mods are enabled.

There are no errors in console.

It affects any keyboard key that you would hold down. Crouch, run, sneak, scoreboard, etc. It actually doesn't happen on my mouse, I thought it did, but those mouse buttons were actually bound to keyboard buttons. If I make duck Mouse4, it works.

I regularly update my system, but I'm using the steam runtime so I think the only things that could change and effect games are the kernel and video drivers. Could be wrong, maybe some outside libs are still loaded.

Thanks IronHorse. This workaround does appear to work.

A more user friendly approach to this would be to use Ubuntu's graphical utilities.

Press 'Super' key, type "language" and press 'Enter'.

Change 'Keyboard input method system' to 'none'.

    Relog or reboot.

Edit: Unfortunately I crash immediately after I try to shoot or bite something.....again.

Got a back trace for that symptom?
